<aside> 💡 Your first 1:1 - this is exciting! This chat (whether synchronous or asynchronous) should be all about getting to know one another, and establishing how you want to work with each other. It is building the foundation for your mentorship relationship!

We expect that the Mentee BUD will take ownership for reaching out to their Mentor BUD to setup a time for your first 1:1, within the first 2 weeks of the program. We recommend that your first meeting (if synchronous) is for 30-60 minutes.

We have included a suggested Agenda to use, that can continue to be used for future meetings. We highly recommend that you do pre-work to share with each other ahead of your meeting, to help you use the time effectively.

Actions

  1. Mentees - contact your Mentor via provided email address (or SheSharp Slack) to arrange your first 1:1. And don’t worry, they are expecting this and are here to help you!

💡Tip: We recommend using Calendly to make scheduling easier

  2. Create a Personal README and share with one another, to review ahead of the meeting.

  3. Mentees - if you haven’t already, consider what your goal for this program is - what do you want to have achieved by the end of the program? This will help your BUD know how they can support you better. If you are struggling to form this, discus this with your BUD in your first 1:1 (and add it to the Agenda!).

💡 Tip: Make your goal SMART.

  4. Meet! Introduce yourself and ask questions - this is all about getting to know each other better 😊

  5. Set Working Agreements, including a meeting cadence. We highly recommend that you meet twice per month, at least. This is to ensure that you have a regular touchpoint, and keep the momentum going.

Please contact Gabi or Alex in the #mentorship-program channel in the SheSharp Slack, or email [email protected], if you have any questions!
